Adam Eason: Composing for Beginning Strings – Finding the “Fun” in “Fundamental.”
June 8 @ 7:30 pmFree
Writing new music for student musicians is a practice as old as composition itself, and is necessary for a healthy living tradition. This discussion will cover string technique from the perspective of a teacher, and show how a diverse and satisfying range of music can be written from basic pedagogical building blocks. We will also cover a few common pitfalls when writing for strings so that the music is as accessible and idiomatic as possible.
