Songs from the Observatory
The nonesuch.reedquintet in a scientific rhapsody

Our season opener features Eugene-based nonesuch.reedquintet performing a concert inspired by the sciences of ecology and evolution, astronomy, mathematics, medicine, cultural anthropology, and a contemplation of the nexus of electrical and political power.  Astronomical reflection inspired works by Sy Brandon, Mary Fineman, Alon Nechushtan and Lana White; the other diverse fields inspired Betty Booher, I’lana Cotton, Brian Magill, Paul Safar and Nicholas Yandell.  None literally include voice, but you may go away singing yourself, your heart touched by emotions as various as joy, rage, love, sorrow and glee.
